ART FOUNDATIONS

Our Art Foundations program is designed as a progressive learning pathway.
Each session includes 6 classes × 2 hours and focuses on a defined set of foundational skills. Students can continue into the next session as their skills, confidence, and interests develop.
FINE ART PROGRAM CLASSES
MORE TIME. MORE DETAIL. A MORE REFINED FINISHED PIECE.
Our Fine Art Program Classes are designed for adults who want to create a more developed and polished artwork through a guided multi-week process.
Unlike a one-time Paint & Coffee Workshop, these classes give students more time to work on composition, colour, technique, layering, details, and finishing.
Each course focuses on one carefully selected artwork and takes place over 3–4 weekly sessions.
No previous art experience is required.
ACRYLIC ART FOUNDATIONS
LEVEL: Beginner WHERE: In-Studio COST: $360 for a 6-week workshop Ideal for beginners with little or no acrylic painting experience, as well as adults who would like to rebuild their painting foundations. A typical 6-class session may include: * Acrylic materials, tools, and paint handling * Brush control and different brush techniques * Colour theory and colour mixing * Value, light, and shadow * Form, depth, and basic composition * Layering and blending * Guided painting studies * Individual instructor feedback Learning Path: Foundations I → Foundations II → Continuing Acrylic Studio As students progress, they move toward more complex subjects, stronger composition, more independent decision-making, and their own creative direction. Goal: To help students understand how acrylic painting works and gradually develop the skills and confidence to paint more independently. WATERCOLOR ART FOUNDATIONS
LEVEL: Beginner WHERE: In-Studio COST: $360 for a 6-week workshop Ideal for beginners who want to understand watercolour from the ground up, as well as adults who have painted before but would like more structured guidance. A typical 6-class session may include: * Understanding watercolour materials and tools * Water and pigment control * Basic washes and gradients * Wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques * Colour mixing and transparency * Layering and glazing * Value, light, and shadow * Soft and hard edges * Composition and visual balance * Guided painting studies * Individual instructor feedback Learning Path: Foundations I → Foundations II → Continuing Watercolour Studio As students progress, they explore more complex layering, colour relationships, composition, different subjects, and increasingly independent projects. Goal: To help students develop real control and understanding of watercolour rather than simply following step-by-step painting tutorials. WATERCOLOR FINE ART PROGRAM
LEVEL: Beginner WHERE: In-Studio COST: $195 + HST for a 3-week workshop Create a refined watercolour artwork through a guided three-week process. Students have time to develop the composition, build transparent layers, work with colour and light, and gradually refine details that are difficult to achieve in a single workshop. Project themes may include florals, landscapes, nature, architecture, seasonal subjects, or other selected themes. ACRYLIC FINE ART PROGRAM
LEVEL: Beginner WHERE: In-Studio COST: $210 + HST for a 3-week workshop Develop a complete acrylic painting from the first sketch and colour planning through layering, detail work, and final refinement. The multi-week format gives students more time to work with composition, colour, depth, brushwork, and finishing while creating a more polished piece. Themes may include landscapes, florals, still life, abstract compositions, nature-inspired subjects, and other selected projects. TEXTURED FINE ART PROGRAM
LEVEL: Beginner WHERE: In-Studio COST: $280 + HST for a 4-week workshop Create an original textured artwork through a four-week process of designing, building, drying, layering, painting, and refinement. Students explore texture, composition, colour, and surface while developing a contemporary statement piece with greater depth and individuality. Projects may explore abstract, minimalist, botanical, landscape-inspired, or contemporary design directions.
